Coast to Coast on the bay

We are set-net fishermen! Set net fishermen operate on some of the smallest commercial boats on the bay designed for shallow coastal operations and low impact fishing. We anchor gill-nets along the shoreline of the Nushagak bay (within Bristol Bay), harvesting salmon as they naturally pass through on their journey upriver. Because we are stationary, we have minimal disturbance to habitats and a small fuel footprint. Fish are caught fresh, hand-picked out of the net and chilled immediately in ice water onboard at peak freshness. The small scale nature of set-netting allows for careful handling and immediate icing. We regularly deliver our catch to the large tender boat on the bay. The tender is designed to quickly chill and hold very large volumes of fish before delivering to the processor. Silver Bay Seafoods is the local fisherman owned processor that receives all of Nushagak Bay’s setnet harvested fish and more.
